Mathruchhaya

Mathruchhaya

Mathruchhaya – meaning “ protective shade of mother”, was established in the year 1965.

One of the earliest priorities taken up by the CBR&WS was to do something for rehabilitating abandoned children. The Society started an Orphanage in a rented house in Jayanagar 4th Block, Bangalore in 1965.The Society also got itself enrolled as a "Fit Person Institute" from Women and Child Development Dept. Govt. of Karnataka, and children started coming from the Juvenile Court. When the Society's own building came up in 1975-76, the chidren of Mathruchhaya occupied the new place.Because of its firm base, Mathruchhaya has today earned a name for itself as one of the best Institutions of its kind, receiving encouragement and support from all the quarters concerned. Today, Mathruchhaya mainly has under its umbrella, various activities like Child Development and Rehabilitation programme, Braille Resource Centre , Elders' Home etc.
